La Guarida

Prohibition or “The Noble Experiment” took effect in America on 16th January 1920. It banned the sale and consumption of alcohol for 13 long years until it was eventually repealed on 5th December 1933. Although alcohol production was strictly prohibited, illegal underground production began to take place. Highly dangerous alcohols began to surface and “bathtub gin” (gin made in a bath or a similar vessel!) became the norm...

La Guarida translates to “the hideout” and here we aim to recreate the style of drinks that preceded this period. Known as the 'Golden Era of Cocktails' it has inspired generations to keep mixing the best drinks. The speakeasies of the prohibition era were exciting places to be, unseen to the unknowing eye, illicit and secretive. La Guarida is a homage to this wonderful era with drinks we hope you find interesting and enjoyable.

Just please don’t tell!
